Standing Forward Fold, or Uttanasana, is a foundational shape. It opens and stretches the entire back of the body, from the heels of the feet through the neck. Uttanasana increases length and flexibility in the spine while releasing tension in the neck and back.
Energetically, forward folds encourage introspection and grounding, making them an excellent way to calm the mind.
